In July 2015, the Department of Labor proposed new rules for establishing exemptions from the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), with a 60-day period for comments, and an expected implementation date in January 2016. Recent updates suggest the final rules are unlikely to be issued until late 2016, which could have some significant implications for employers who are trying to determine how and when to deal with them.
